Our Journey to BRI

The Starting Point

Many Christians do not realize that their investments may include companies whose products, services, or practices do not align with their values. When you invest in a company, you are taking ownership and participating in its outcomes. That makes it worth considering not only how your investments perform, but what they represent.

For those seeking to live out their faith consistently, this can raise an important question. Do our financial decisions reflect the same values that guide the rest of our lives?

My Turning Point

I have worked in the financial industry for many years, but in 2017 my faith became personal. As I spent more time studying Scripture, I began to see money differently. I came to understand that what I had been given was not truly mine, but something entrusted to me to steward.

As I looked more closely at the companies I owned, I realized that some were involved in activities that did not align with my beliefs. That realization created a conviction I could not ignore. If my faith was shaping how I was striving to live, it needed to shape how I invested as well.

The Change We Made

We decided to take a more intentional approach. We began reviewing our investments through tools designed to evaluate companies based on biblical values. Where there was a clear misalignment, we made changes.

We sought to invest in companies that:

  • Value and respect human life
  • Treat people with dignity
  • Foster healthy workplace cultures
  • Use their resources responsibly
  • Contribute positively to the communities they serve

We recognize that no company is perfect, and that is not the standard. The goal is not perfection, but progress. Each step toward greater alignment is meaningful.

A More Intentional Approach

If we have been entrusted with resources, it is worth considering how those resources are used. Biblically Responsible Investing is not only about avoiding what does not align. It is about intentionally supporting companies that reflect what we believe is good and responsible.

For us, this approach has become an important part of aligning our financial decisions with our faith and values. It is also something we are very grateful to help others pursue.
