ESG vs BRI
I am often asked what Biblically Responsible Investing (BRI) is and how it differs from ESG investing.
It is a great question, and the short answer is that they are fundamentally different approaches.
At Gondran Financial Group, we do not follow ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investing. While ESG is often described as values-based, its criteria can vary widely and are often shaped by changing social and political priorities.
Our approach is different. We follow Biblically Responsible Investing, which begins with a consistent foundation. Rather than adapting to shifting standards, BRI seeks to evaluate investments through the lens of Christian values.
This includes:
- Protecting and valuing human life
- Supporting strong families and relationships
- Investing in companies that contribute positively to society
- Avoiding companies involved in activities that conflict with biblical principles
For Erica and me, this approach is personal. Over the years, our goal has been to grow our wealth in a way that reflects our faith, supports what we believe is good, and avoids what does not align with our values. It is also a privilege to help others do the same.
